Clausewar

Five companies signed the Articles of War: twenty-one rules for how a battle may be fought. Before each fight you seal three. They bind your army and the enemy's until the horn.

Battle I

The Muster

A contour map of steep hachured hills with a road winding between them, five clusters of lead soldiers gathered at the foot and a brass plumb bob on one summit
Captain Elin Rask in a long navy greatcoat with surveying tools on her belt and a wooden tripod on her back, writing in a field book
Captain Elin Rask, 36. Surveyor of the Lantern Foot. She carries the tripod herself.

Captain Elin Rask surveys ground for the Lantern Foot. She paces the roads, counts the slopes and writes down what the land will allow an army to do.

On the night before the five companies march, she lays the treaty beside her own copy. Article XIV has been scraped thin and written over. Each side still sees the other's map at dawn. The new words add one detail: the Marshal's surveyor draws that map.

Pel Dyer copied the original by hand when he was fifteen. He still remembers the old wording, and he is the only one in camp willing to say it out loud.

Twenty-One Clauses

Before every battle each commander seals three Articles out of the twenty-one. A sealed Article binds both armies until the horn ends the day. Seal No fire and your own torches stay cold.

Break a sealed Article and your company panics: it loses its next turn. Catch the enemy breaking one and the turn is yours.

At the river

Elin seals No fire, No attack in rain, and A bridge is held by one company at a time. At noon the rain comes. Vance's halberds charge anyway. His line panics and stands idle for a turn, and Elin's pikes take the bridge with a turn in hand.

Marshal Odo Vance, a broad grey-bearded commander in a slate coat with tarnished medals and a fur cloak, holding a quill and a sheet of parchment
Marshal Odo Vance, 59. Commander of the Marshal's Line. He wrote most of the Articles thirty years ago and has never lost a battle fought under them. He seals the clauses his own army never needs to break.

Battle III

The Seal

The Articles lapse at the turn of the year. All five companies must sign again, in a forest clearing where nobody may carry a weapon.

Vance arrives with a clean copy. Article XXI is still in it: the war ends only when one side holds the field.

Elin arrives with a knife and the old wording in Pel's handwriting. Four captains watch her read the treaty aloud, one Article at a time, while the Marshal's line waits at the trees.

How it ends

She scrapes Article XXI off the page in front of all five captains. Nobody holds the field, and the war stops there with no winner to name.

Sign the Articles

Wether Ford, first light, rain on the way. Pel copied what he could of Vance's orders: horse, torches, patience. Your own plan is set. Crossbows open, pikes wade the river, your horse goes into the trees.

Seal three of these five. Each seal binds you as hard as it binds him.

No Articles sealed yet. Seal three.

Sealed Muster Games runs clausewar.com and the Clausewar playtest. This article says what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.

    Who we are

Sealed Muster Games is the studio behind Clausewar and the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach the person who handles privacy at [email protected].

    What we collect

This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. The sound and motion buttons remember nothing after you close the page.

    Why we collect it

We use your email to invite you to a muster and to send playtest notices. We use match logs and crash reports to fix the game. We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for advertising.

    Legal basis

We rely on your consent, given with the checkbox on the muster roll. You can withdraw it at any time. We follow the EU General Data Protection Regulation where it applies, and Indonesia's Law No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection for players in Indonesia.

    How long we keep it

We keep roll entries until the playtest ends or until you ask us to remove them. We delete match logs ninety days after the muster that produced them.

    Who sees it

Our team and the service provider that sends our email. Both work under written agreements and only for the purposes above. We transfer data outside your country only with safeguards the law requires.

    Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Write to [email protected]. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.

    Terms

These terms cover clausewar.com and taking part in the Clausewar playtest. By using either, you accept them.

    Using this site

You may read, share links to and quote this site for personal and press use. Do not try to break, overload or copy the site as a whole.

    The playtest

A place on the muster roll is an invitation to apply. We choose testers in rounds and may not reach everyone. Musters can start late, end early or change in size.

    Your conduct

Treat other testers and our staff with respect. No cheating, no harassment, no attempts to access other players' accounts or our servers.

    Confidentiality

Some musters ask you to keep what you see private until a set date. We tell you the date when you join. Outside those musters you can stream and write about the build.

    What you send us

When you send feedback, bug reports or screenshots, you allow us to use them to improve Clausewar. We will not publish your name with them without asking.

    Our content

Clausewar, its art, music, characters and the text of its Articles belong to Sealed Muster Games. Fan art and videos are welcome as long as you do not present them as official.

    Changes and contact

We may update these terms and will post the new date here. Questions go to [email protected]. Last updated 28 October 2026.

    EULA

This End User Licence Agreement covers the Clausewar playtest build. Installing the build means you accept it.

    Licence

Sealed Muster Games gives you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and play the playtest build on your own device for the length of your muster.

    What you may not do

    Playtest builds

The build is unfinished. Expect bugs, missing content and saves that do not carry over to later versions.

    Data from the build

The build sends crash reports and match logs as described in the Privacy article. You can turn off optional reports in the settings menu.

    Ownership

We license the build to you; we do not hand it over. All rights not given in this agreement stay with Sealed Muster Games.

    Ending the licence

The licence ends when your muster closes, when you uninstall the build, or if you break this agreement. When it ends, delete the build.

    Warranty and liability

We provide the build as it is, without warranties, to the extent the law allows. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law where you live.

    Governing law

The laws of the country where you live apply, unless local law says otherwise. Last updated 28 October 2026.

    Help

Answers about this page, the playtest and how to reach the studio.

    Moving around this page

The five wax seals on the table edge take you to the hero, the three battles and Sign the Articles. With a keyboard, Tab to the seals and use the arrow keys to move between them.

    Sign the Articles

Choose three of the five Articles by clicking them or with the arrow keys and Enter. Press Sign and march to play three moves at Wether Ford. Break the seals starts again.

    Sound and motion

Sound stays off until you press the Sound compass. The Pause compass stops the moving table in the hero. If your system asks for reduced motion, the page shows every result without animation.

    Accessibility

We build the page to WCAG 2.2 AA. Every image has a description, every control works with a keyboard, and focus stays visible. If something blocks you, tell us and we will fix it.

    Playtest questions

Musters open in rounds. If you are on the roll, we write before each round. Check your spam folder for mail from [email protected].

    Contact
